Veteran RCB pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that he forgot about the saliva ban being lifted in the IPL this season. However, the saliva ban came into place during the COVID-19 pandemic time and it was lifted ahead of the new season of the IPL as well. However, the use of saliva has often helped the bowler to reverse in the final few overs as well, which was used effectively by DC’s Mitchell Starc during the thriller against RR on April 16 as well.

Speaking at the pre-match presser ahead of the PBKS clash, Bhuvneshwar Kumar said, “I forgot that I can use saliva. Yesterday when the staff told me, I didn’t know that I have to use it. I am not sure if it will help or not, but now that I remember, definitely in tomorrow’s match I will put some saliva and see if it helps or not.”

However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has formed a strong partnership with another pace bowler, Josh Hazlewood and said that their roles cannot be defined right now. He also said that he and Hazlewood have a pretty good role, but it keeps changing from game to game as well. He also said that the duo aim to take wickets and step up as well for the team.

“The role cannot be defined before the match. Normally, if you look at our bowling, Hazlewood and I both bowl with the new ball, and both bowl at the death. So it’s a pretty standard role we have, but it keeps changing from match to match. It depends on how we bowl in the first few overs, how the team is batting, and so on. But yes, being experienced bowlers, we both want to take wickets and want to do well for the team,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar concluded.
