Punjab Kings (PBKS) spinner Harpreet Brar picked Team India captain Shubman Gill as the batter he would like to dismiss in the IPL as well. Brar, who has played only sparingly for PBKS over the past two seasons, has bowled 28 deliveries to Gill in the IPL so far. However, Gill, who plays for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL, holds the upper hand over Brar, scoring 38 off 28 balls without being dismissed as well.

Talking about his most cherished and desired wicket in an interview with Cricbuzz, Brar said: “After Virat paaji, there’s no batsman whose aura is such that their wicket can be remembered. But still, I haven’t yet dismissed Shubman Gill in the IPL. I would definitely like to take Gill’s wicket in my career. But for the last 3-4 years, whenever there’s a match against him, I haven’t been playing.”

Harpreet Brar also believes the Impact Player rule has adversely affected his game time with PBKS in the past couple of IPL seasons. The vteran also played only two matches in IPL 2026, following an eight-game season in 2025 as well.

“I can only work on things. Because you know what, the way cricket is going on now, there is the Impact Player (rule), because of which I have gone down one spot further (in the batting order). If I play, there’s only Arshdeep (Singh) and Yuzi paaji (Chahal) after me. Because Marco Jansen also bats. Even if Azmatullah (Omarzai) plays, he will go above me,” said Brar.

“When you do well for your team, and suddenly, you are not in the first XI for the next game, it hurts. But as a cricketer, the team always comes first, which is our motto. We must go as per the demands of the team. But it doesn’t mean that if I am not playing, I’ll just sit and feel low,” Harpreet Brar concluded.
