Former umpire Anil Chaudhary revealed the infamous fight between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir from the 2013 IPL edition. Chaudhary was one of the two on-field umpires in that match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as well. After Virat Kohli was dismissed in that game, a few verbal exchanges took place, with then-KKR captain Gautam Gambhir charging towards Kohli and getting involved in the heated exchange. Other players and the umpires, including Chaudhary, had to intervene to sort things out on the field.

“All were Delhi boys. I knew it would happen, as Delhi guys are always aggressive. Even in local cricket, this is how they are. If they are not like this, they will not perform. The flavor of the game will die if you try to tie these guys. But it should only be within a limit and not go beyond that,” Anil Chaudhary said on Star Sports show ‘Cheeky Singles’.

“Everybody wants games to finish early. There was a very senior umpire. When a game was as good as done, people from the dugout would tell the batter to play all the overs; he would shout, saying Are we fools standing here? There is nothing left in the match, finish it,” he concluded.
