Former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy has disappointed on the Australian bowlers on their efforts in the Adelaide ODI that they lost by six wickets against the visitors India.
With that victory, the visitors have levelled the three-match ODI series by 1-1 with one ODI to go. As the regular Australian pacers Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins have been rested from this series, the hosts’ side has tried their luck with some young pacers along with Peter Siddle.

After observing the Adelaide ODI, the former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian Healy feels that the Australian pacers need to improve in their bowling quality.
Healy told SEN Mornings, “I just think we’ve got to get our jobs done. You’re playing for Australia in big matches. So Peter Siddle has got to get it right otherwise he won’t make the World Cup. Jhye Richardson has been expensive and leg-side at times, he’s got to get that right. Jason Behrendorff was another one who was too leg-side and I thought his pace was terrible at the end. I reckon he was bowling less than 130 at the end.”

Since January 2017, Australia hasn’t won a bilateral ODI series. Healy mentioned that fact after pointing out the openers’ failure in the Adelaide ODI.
The former Australian wicketkeeper said, “Our batsmen started really slowly and lost top-order wickets again. Get it right or we won’t see you again, We’re (ranked) number six in the world and we haven’t won a series for two years.”

Healy has surprised to see Nathan Lyon as the main spinner of the Australian cricket team in the ongoing home ODI series, despite the leg-spinner Adam Zampa is in the squad.
Healy said, “You know what he’ll give you, Zampa will give you swing, he won’t give you much spin so I don’t know whether we call him a leg-spinner. He sort of rolls in-swinging slow balls that are hard to hit across the line so I’d love to see him rip a leg spinner every now and then to keep the batsmen wary.”
