A female employee of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has come forward with allegations of workplace harassment, raising serious concerns about the ICC’s response to her complaint. According to information gathered by News18 CricketNext, the staffer, fearing for her safety and the possibility of her emails being monitored, opted for a more traditional approach. She personally typed and printed her complaint on an A4-sized paper, which she then submitted to a senior ICC official in person.
The disconcerting aspect of this situation is the lack of response from any ICC office-bearer or official, including the chairman and CEO, regarding the complaint. To date, apart from sporadic email exchanges with the ICC’s legal team, no one from the organization has taken the initiative to listen to the female staffer’s complaint.
This alleged harassment by a senior ICC official reportedly began prior to the 2021 T20 World Cup held in the UAE. The employee, who had been with the ICC for a significant period and had worked on various projects, sought resolution through numerous channels but found herself without any recourse.

“The employee wasn’t a newcomer to the ICC. She had worked there for a considerable amount of time, including on a project leading up to the T20 World Cup in the UAE. Despite her constant attempts to address the issue, there was no response from anyone within the ICC,” said a source familiar with the situation.
Despite multiple reminders and attempts to reach different senior ICC officials, there was purportedly no progress, leaving the female staffer feeling unsupported. The source also revealed that complaints of alleged harassment by the same ICC official had been made by other colleagues in the past.

“It was always going to be difficult for her to go up against such a large institution, especially individuals in senior leadership roles. There was also the concern that speaking out could impact her future professional opportunities within the ICC. This complaint isn’t the first time someone has raised concerns about this ICC official,” the source explained.
CricketNext has learned that two high-ranking ICC officials, part of the top management, were approached for a discussion, but no dialogue has taken place, and no committee has been established to investigate the allegations.

On the ICC’s official website, under the Integrity and Safeguarding section, a message states, “Everyone involved in cricket has the right to be protected from harassment, abuse, and harm. As the international governing body for cricket, the ICC is committed to ensuring a safe and protected environment for all participants.”
News18 CricketNext has reached out to the ICC for a response and is awaiting an update. The story will be updated as soon as they provide a statement. CricketNext will continue to closely monitor the alleged harassment claims and provide further details on the original complaint letter and subsequent reminders in the coming days.
