Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has finally landed in Dubai, putting to rest speculation about his absence from the ICC Executive Board Meeting. Earlier reports suggested that Naqvi might skip the conference due to “domestic political issues,” with PCB CEO Sumair Syed likely to step in. However, as per a Times of India report, Naqvi reached Dubai just in time, touching down ahead of the 3:00 PM IST meeting.

Although the official ICC agenda revolves around finance, governance, and scheduling, the simmering Asia Cup trophy controversy involving India and Pakistan is expected to find its way into the discussions. The BCCI has made it clear that it intends to raise the matter formally if the trophy is not returned promptly.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia recently revealed that the board had written to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairperson ten days earlier, requesting that the trophy be handed over to India.

“We are waiting for another day. If we do not get the trophy by 3 November, we will raise the issue at the ICC headquarters in Dubai,” Saikia told ANI, adding weight to the ongoing dispute.

The tension stems from India’s five-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final in Dubai, a match overshadowed by an unusual trophy presentation standoff. Indian players declined to receive their medals and trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who serves as both the PCB chief and ACC president and is known for his anti-India rhetoric. Despite this, Naqvi insisted on remaining on stage, resulting in an awkward impasse.

In a dramatic twist, Naqvi and ACC officials walked away with the trophy before the ceremony could conclude. Indian players responded sportingly, posing with imaginary trophies, medals, and even coffee cups in their celebratory photos — a moment that quickly went viral.

According to reports, the actual Asia Cup trophy is still locked inside the ACC headquarters near the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, with staff instructed not to release it without Naqvi’s approval. As Naqvi attends the ICC meeting, this lingering controversy may finally inch closer to a resolution.
