Iceland Cricket, known for its humorous take on cricket, took a playful jab at the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the announcement of the T20 World Cup 2024 fixtures, which once again placed arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the same group. The tongue-in-cheek post questioned how much money the ICC would need to avoid placing the two teams in the same World Cup group.

In a tweet, Iceland Cricket questioned, “How much money does the ICC require not to put India and Pakistan in the same World Cup group?” This humorous remark highlights the frequent occurrence of these two cricketing giants ending up in the same group, drawing attention and excitement due to their high-stakes encounters in international competitions.

 

In Group A, India is placed alongside Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA for the league stage of the tournament. The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for June 9 in New York, marking the opening of India’s World Cup campaign.

Following this, India will face the co-hosts on June 12 in New York and then travel to Florida for their final group match against Canada on June 15. The T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA, involves 20 teams divided into four groups, making it the largest T20 World Cup ever.

The tournament kicks off on June 1, with the USA taking on Canada. The group stage matches will be played until June 18, followed by the Super 8 stage from June 19 to 24.  Semi-finals are scheduled for June 26 in Guyana and June 27 in Trinidad, with Barbados hosting the final on June 29.
