Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth commented on the Chairman of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee ahead of the 2027 World Cup. There has been a lot of chaos regarding chief selector Ajit Agarkar and his future as well. According to reports, Agarkar informed the BCCI that he does not wish to seek an extension after his contract comes to an end on October 4, 2026 as well. Srikkanth, however, applauded Agarkar for his service in the role and credited the entire selection committee as well.

“Ajit as a chairman has done a very good job. Ajit Agarkar and the selection committee team, they have done a reasonably very good job. I give them the credit. They should have won the 2023 World Cup. Poor guys came up to the final. They lost the final. I don’t know why he wants to give up the chairmanship. That’s his choice. I am available for chairmanship if they call me. I am there. Do you want to win the 2027 World Cup? Come to me. If I become the chairman, Gambhir will run away. He will shoot me,” he said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Being a former chief selector himself, Kris Srikkanth commented on the job. The former Indian cricketer also called it a ‘thankless’ role, as a chief selector one always faces criticism as well.

“Being a chairman or a selector is a thankless job. No matter what you do, people will talk. We have criticised on our channel many times. We have praised as well. That’s the nature of the job. In the last few months, from whatever we read in the press reports and the media reports, there has been a lot of friction between Ajit Agarkar and XYZ. I don’t know who that XYZ is,” he concluded.
