WV Raman, the former head coach of India Women will be surprised if Rahul Dravid will not become the full-time coach of Team India in future. He made this admission just before the commencement of India’s limited-over series against Sri Lanka, where Rahul Dravid will be filling in Ravi Shastri’s shoes as the head coach of the team.
Presently, Ravi Shastri is in England along with India’s Test team preparing for the upcoming five-match Test series against the Poms. With eight regular white-ball team starters are in England, BCCI named a rather young team for this tour which will be led by Shikhar Dhawan.

BCCI roped in for Dravid to fill the head coach’s role for this tour. However, many believe this can’t be a temporary thing and he will replace Shastri in the near future.
Meanwhile, Shastri’s tenure will end after the T20 World Cup 2021, which is scheduled to take place in the UAE and Oman.
WV Raman, also, believes Dravid will get this job in future. “It (Dravid becoming a full-time coach) is likely to happen. There is no saying as to when it will, but I will be surprised if it doesn’t happen sometime in the (near) future,” Raman told TOI.

Shikhar Dhawan will lead India against Sri Lanka, where he can audition for his place in the T20I squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup. Dhawan and KL Rahul are the frontrunners in this race with Dhawan have the experience over Rahul. But the latter gives a different proposition to the team combination.
Talking on this, Raman urged Dhawan to be patient to get his place in the T20I squad.
“In case of Shikhar, it is a case of retaining his competitive edge, waiting and watching as to how things pan out. Unlike others, Shikhar needs to be a bit more patient and needs to try and ensure that he makes the best possible use of these matches and put the ball in the selectors’ court.” Raman added.
