Star GT batter Sai Sudharsan has said that he is ready to be flexible for the team after being named in India’s Test squad for the England tour. However, Sudharsan was one of the new faces who earned the call up in Indian squad for the tour of England, which will begin on June 20. However, his selectio came on the back of some stunning shows in domestic and IPL performances.
“Sir, I think playing for the country itself is a very big privilege for a cricketer, so I don’t think I’m in a position to choose where I want to play. Wherever I’m going, wherever the coaches tell me to play, I think I’ll be mentally and skillfully try and be ready for the opportunity. I have a lot of likings. I think I’ll have to be ready for whichever spot the team gives me. I’ll be ready,” said Sudharsan.
Sai Sudharsan also said that it feels very special to get a call up in the Indian Test team as he said that it was his ultimate goal to play in the Test for India.
“Obviously feels great, feels very special, to be honest, and surreal also. Any cricketer, any young cricketer who starts playing cricket, wants to play Test cricket, wants to play for the country. The ultimate goal is always to play Test cricket. So really happy for that, really grateful for that because there’s so many, so many people who have helped me through the journey. So I think I’m grateful for them and grateful for my parents as well. Very happy that I know my parents will be happy today, so I’m very happy for that,” said Sai Sudharsan.
The youngster also said that he had a talk with his family over video call and they were really happy ater he gets a maiden call-up.
“I took a FaceTime with my parents and my brother in the call, so we’re really happy for that and some family friends and close friends as well, really happy. They were very happy and I could see that in their face, but It’s just a start. I think there’s a lot more to the story to add up to, so they have definitely, they’re very happy for that,” said Sudharsan.
“I always feel that when finish the first story, then go to the next one, because now the IPL is also most important. When we are in IPL during the IPL, so I think there is also the most importance of finishing this, and then obviously we will have time to prepare, so I’ll use that bracket of days so that we’ll be ready for the Test series,” Sai Sudharsan concluded.
