Former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan has won the general elections in the country with the majority of votes and has been elected as the Prime Minister. He is also the first cricketer to achieve such a remarkable feat and is being regarded as one of the best leaders on the cricketing field. It is no surprise, however, that his first aim at the helm is to strengthen the relationship between India and Pakistan.

Imran contested the elections for his political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and has won it with a fair margin. The public of the country though would be expecting for him to work honestly in improving the future of Pakistan as #NayaPakistan is already trending on social media.

Khan addressed the reporters for the first time after winning the elections and clarified that his agenda would be to improve the relations with the neighboring country India. He also highlighted the Kashmir issue which had taken an ugly turn a few months ago by saying that the blame game shouldn’t continue forever. However, he stressed on the fact that the resumption of the bilateral cricketing series between two nations will help going forward.

As quoted in NDTV on Thursday, Imran said, “I really want to fix the India-Pakistan ties through dialogue. The main issue between us is Kashmir but blame game can’t continue forever. Because of cricket, I want better ties with the neighboring country.”

Imran Khan was also disappointed with the way the Indian media characterized him through the elections. But his ambitions to work for the betterment of Pakistan must have cleared all the doubts and it will be interesting to see the way he handles the country in the near future. “I am little disappointed by the way Indian media has portrayed me like a Bollywood villain,” the 65-year-old added.
