The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have started with a bang where a few teams have started with wins but for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), they have lost both their games from an inch closer to the target. After the defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, the David Warner-led side once again lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six runs on Wednesday as well. And the results left fans sad as well, including the famous tennis star Sania Mirza’s father Imran Mirza, who took to Twitter and expressed his dissatisfaction.
Imran Mirza wrote, “No local player was considered good enough to be selected in SRH. They even didn’t think Hyderabad is a safe venue to host matches while seriously Covid-hit centres got the nod. Looks like SRH will end up with few wins and a dwindling home support. Time to introspect.”

On the other hand, former India captain and the current president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, Mohammed Azharuddin had also written to the BCCI to consider the HCA for IPL 2021. But the board has reportedly didn’t take up the offer decided on six venues to host the entire Indian Premier League 2021 – Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, and Kolkata.

However, after the defeat SRH captain, David Warner said that they need big partnerships in the middle overs if they want to reach the target. “Look, it was just about building a partnership and I was quite disappointed with how we went – cross-batted shots against left-arm orthodox. It just hurts,” David Warner said the post-match presentation. “We have another three games here, the wickets are going to get better here. We need to try to take powerplay wickets and need to have one big partnership in the middle.”
“A very bitter pill to swallow. Obviously Maxi batted well, but our bowlers did well to restrict them. The last four games here the team batting second should’ve won the game. Last night’s game was an example and we played an identical game,” further added Warner.
SRH will next play against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on Saturday, April 17.
