The term ‘In the air’ in cricket generally refers to a situation when any batsman hits a ball in the air. However, in this situation it is vis-a-vis Indian opener, Rohit Sharma. The 30-year old right-hand batsman, who is playing his first ODI after the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 held in June, was run-out and that too, in a comical way.

Having won the toss, captain of India, Virat Kohli, chose to bowl. Sri Lanka failed miserably as far as converting a decent start into a substantial total is concerned. They sank from 139-1 to 216-10, not even batting for 50 overs.

Indian openers in Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were looking comfortable before the latter was found more above the crease and less short of it. Had his bat not stuck in the air, he would have easily made his ground.
