Star India all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been ruled out of India’s T20I series against Ireland owing to a quadriceps injury, a huge blow that could also jeopardise his participation in the white-ball series against England, according to BCCI sources. The veteran all-rounder had been selected in both the ODI and T20I squads as India’s seam-bowling all-rounder, with Hardik Pandya continuing to be left out as well.

However, Reddy featured in two ODIs in the home series against Afghanistan, scalping his maiden wickets in the format in Dharamsala. He then missed the second ODI in Lucknow, with captain Shubman Gill sharing at the toss that the all-rounder was dealing with “some issues with his quad.” Reddy then again returned for the final ODI in Chennai, bowling six wicketless overs for 42 runs, and did not bat as well.

However, the injury is the latest in a series of fitness setbacks that have cost Reddy’s progress over the past year. Concerns over his fitness centred on his bowling during IPL 2025, when he bowled just 5 overs across 13 matches. He was later ruled out midway through India’s Test tour of England owing to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy is likely to report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, where further assessments will determine the extent of the injury and provide clarity on his recovery timeline as well.
