Indian men’s and women’s cricket team have left for their tour to England on Wednesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken to Twitter and shared pictures of the cricketers from both teams as well. India men’s cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli, women’s Test and ODI team captain Mithali Raj, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and speedster Jhulan Goswami were among the players who were seen before boarding the flight for England.

“Off we go,” BCCI posted the pictures with this caption on Twitter.

While the men’s cricket team will play six Test matches in England, which also included the inaugural World Test Championship final against New Zealand and five-match Test series against England, the women’s cricket team will play a one-off Test, three One-Day International matches and as many Twenty20 International games as well.

“The conditions (in England) are as potent for us as New Zealand… We are going to board the flight thinking that we’re on equal terms and whichever team performs well session-by-session, hour-by-hour, is going to win that championship,” said Kohli during the pre-departure press conference.

Virat Kohli further added, “There is no frontier for us. The transition was really smooth because we wanted to keep Indian cricket on top. In Test cricket, we have finished No 1 for a few years in a row. Youngsters are coming in and another transition is on. We have done our duty with absolute commitment and our responsibility is to instill the same passion and commitment among the younger players so that we remain on top for more years to come.”

However, New Zealand has been playing a two-match Test series against England which has already started from yesterday.
