India players and support staff are ready to undergo the mandatory quarantine period of two weeks in Mumbai before they depart for the UK for the upcoming inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand and then the five-match Test series against England as well.
According to the reports, the players from Mumbai will start their quarantine at the team hotel from Wednesday whereas others from May 24 onwards will start entering the bio-secure bubble as well. Along with this, each player and the support staff will have to return three negative tests before leaving.
On the other hand, both men’s and women’s teams will fly to the UK together on June 2 but they also need to have three negative RT-PCR tests as well. The Virat Kohli-led Indian team will reach Southampton where they will take on New Zealand in the inaugural WTC final between June 18-22 as well. However, the team will have to undergo another 10-day quarantine period at a hotel inside the premises of the stadium in Southampton as well.

However, players will be allowed only for training, where they will lock horns with New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final between June 18-22. Meanwhile, the Ageas Bowl has a team hotel inside the ground which helps players train despite being in the bio-bubble.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to get the travel exemption from the UK government for the players’ families before the 3.5-month-long tour of England. However, Indian cricketers have recently returned home from their IPL bio-bubbles after the tournament was postponed on May 4 owing to the surge of positive Covid-19 cases inside the bio-bubble as well.
