The India Test team has already been told to isolate themselves till the time they reach Mumbai and assembled as well and board the flight to England. Meanwhile, those players who will be tested positive for the coronavirus can consider their tour over as well. Notably, BCCI announced a 20-member squad for the England tour where they will play the five-match Test series as well as the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand too.

However, the BCCI wouldn’t arrange a charter flight for any player who will be contracted the virus.  “The players have been informed to consider their tour over if they are found positive on their arrival in Mumbai as BCCI will not arrange another charter flight for any cricketer,” The Indian Express quoted a source as saying.

However, the squad is likely to depart on June 2 after assembling in Mumbai. The BCCI has allowed respective families to accompany the players as it is going to be a lengthy tour which will see them spend almost three-and-a-half-month in England as well.

Meanwhile, the RT-PCR tests will be done on the players’ families too before they leave for England. After reaching Mumbai, another test will be done before they enter their hotel. However, the board has become extra cautious after the IPL 2021 got cancelled when many players tested positive for the deadly covid-19 virus despite being in the bio-secure bubble for over a month.

“The players, support staff and families will be tested and two negative reports are required before they leave for Mumbai. It will be done in order to ensure that they are coming into the bubble without any infection,” the daily quoted another BCCI source as saying as well.

However, all the players have been given the option to reach Mumbai either by car or flight. Even they were asked to vaccinate themselves with the first dose of Covishield too before leaving.
