Bouncing back with their dominating style after the shock loss in the first Test, Team India have thrashed England by 317 runs in the second Test to draw the four-match series at 1-1. Almost everything went in favor of the hosts as they thoroughly dominated the contest and keep their hopes of making it to the final of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) alive.
Chasing an improbable 482 to take an unassailable lead in the series, England was all out for just 164 in their second innings. The visitors started the 4th day on 53 for 3 and lost four wickets inside the first session. They failed to delay the inevitable could not delay the inevitable for too long in the second session too as Indian bowlers made light work of their batting lineup.

Moeen Ali was the highest run-scorer for the visiting team, scoring an entertaining 43 off just 18 balls while Axar Patel picked up five wickets for India. Earlier in the game, India took a humongous lead of 195 runs in the first innings. Batting first, India scored 329 before bowling out England for 134. In the second innings, the hosts scored 286.

Riding on the latest win, India has increased the chances of him reaching the final of the ongoing ICC WTC. The win in the second Test has helped India move to the second spot in the WTC points table. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the Indian team had dropped to the fourth spot in the points table after losing the first Test in Chennai by 227 runs. With 460 points from 15 Tests, India has earned 69.7 percentage of points. India now needs to win the series by 2-1 or 3-1 to make it to the final.

England, on the other hand, has dropped to fourth place after the heavy loss. The visiting team had moved to the top following their win in the first Test. Joe Roo and his men now need to win the remaining two Test matches to make it to the final of the WTC. New Zealand are currently at the top of the points table while Australia are at the third spot.
