The India women’s team will take on England in the semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Sydney, while South Africa will play Australia in the other semi-final match. Both matches will be played in Sydney on Thursday. India topped their group with an undefeated record in the tournament, while South Africa’s washed-out game with the West Indies left both the teams sharing a point each and South Africa finished as the table-toppers with one point more than England.
However, India and England faced each other in the semi-finals of the 2018 T20 World Cup as well where England convincingly won the game. The India-England match will be a clash of stalwarts. England have the two top run-getters in the tournament – Natalie Sciver and Heather Knight, while the third-highest run-getter of the tournament is India’s young sensation Shafali Varma.
England captain Heather Knight also has the highest individual score in the tournament, having scored 108 against Thailand. On the other hand, India’s most dependable bowler Poonam Yadav has the most wickets in the tournament so far, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Anya Shrubsole are placed second and third in the wicket-takers’ list so far.

England have beaten India in four of their last five T20I encounters as well. There will be pressure on India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur to step up. Both of them are out of form alongside their middle-order. Only young opener Shafali Varma is in form and also the only bright spot for India so far in the mega event.
India will also be hoping the likes of Poonam Yadav, Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav will do the main damage against a strong batting lineup of England in tomorrow’s game. The India vs England semi-final will begin at 9:30 am IST while the Australia and South Africa match will start at 1:30 pm IST on Thursday.
