The 2025 edition of the Men’s Asia Cup will take place in India, will be played in a T20 format, while in 2027 it will be played in a 50-over format and will be held in Bangladesh. It will be comprised of six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, with a sixth team decided through a qualifying event.
According to the Asian Cricket Council invitation for expressions of interest for sponsorship rights, 13 is the total number of matches for the tournament. Although the exact dates of the tournament have not been confirmed, sources within the ACC have revealed that it will likely take place in September, once the monsoons are over for the region.
The cricket calendar for India is fully booked from 2023 to 2027, as per the plan chalked out by the ICC in its Future Tours Program (FTP) 2023–27.

India will open the home schedule by playing hosts to England for a limited-overs series in January-February 2025 and the Champions Trophy in February-March. After the IPL season, in June and August, Indian team will head to England. They will travel to Bangladesh to play three ODIs and as many T20Is.

The Asia Cup, therefore, will take place in October as per plans, just after the Bangladesh series and a couple of weeks before the two-match Test series against West Indies. However, sources close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that all decisions regarding the venue were yet to be taken.
While there won’t be a men’s Asia Cup in 2026, there will be a women’s Asia Cup in the T20 format. This will be succeeded by a Men’s U-19 and Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Last year, the Asian Cup was held in a hybrid model in which the maximum number of matches of India were played in Sri Lanka, while a few games were locally hosted by Pakistan. India won the event, beating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, under skipper Rohit Sharma.
