India to play day-night practice match to prepare for Adelaide Test against Australia

India will play a two-day warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra from November 30 to December 1 during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The match will help India prepare for the Day-Night Test against Australia to be held on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval as well.

However, India have played three pink-ball Tests so far, against Bangladesh (2019), England (2021) and Sri Lanka (2022) and have won all as well. However, they are yet to play in an overseas Day-Night Test and the upcoming Adelaide Test is going to be their first on foreign soil. India will also play against the Prime Minister’s XI for the fourth time and the first in 20 years. Steve Waugh led the PM XI which included current national coach Andrew McDonald against an Indian team that was led by Rahul Dravid.

Today’s confirmation of the Prime Minister’s XI match is a terrific result for cricket fans, particularly in the ACT and surrounding regions, and adds to an incredible summer of cricket.”

George Bailey, the CA Chair of Selectors, said, “Representing the PMs XI is a tremendous honour for any player given its rich history spanning across eight decades. This year’s match also presents an opportunity for players to impress against arguably the strongest side in world cricket.”

However, Team India are slated to take on Australia in the opening Test, starting November 22 at the Perth Stadium. Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney will host the third, fourth and fifth Tests respectively. India have won back-to-back Test series in Australia as well.
