Online ticket sales have already begun, while both teams are preparing for the contest in Chandigarh. Members of the Afghanistan squad have arrived at the venue, and training sessions are set to commence ahead of the highly anticipated fixture. The Test will also mark Shubman Gill’s return as captain, with India aiming to continue its dominance in the longest format.

To help the team prepare for Afghanistan’s spin-heavy attack, the BCCI has assembled a specialized group of net bowlers. Among them is Sunrisers Hyderabad leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari, who has been brought in to replicate Afghanistan’s wrist-spin threat during practice sessions. The support group also includes Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi Dar, left-arm wrist spinner Shivang Kumar, left-arm seamer Gurjapneet Singh, promising fast bowler Prince Yadav, and off-spinner Saransh Jain.

Meanwhile, workload management remains a key focus for the Indian camp. Fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are unlikely to bowl at full intensity immediately after a demanding IPL playoff schedule. Several IPL finalists are also expected to miss the opening training session as they recover from a hectic end to the T20 season.
