The Indian women’s cricket team is set to return to action next month as they host Sri Lanka for a five-match T20I series. As announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on November 28, the series will begin in Visakhapatnam, with the first two matches scheduled at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on December 21 and 23.

The action will then shift to Thiruvananthapuram, where the Greenfield International Stadium will host the remaining three games on December 26, 28 and 30. Sharing the fixture list on X, the BCCI stated that the IDFC FIRST Bank Women’s T20I series will see India welcome Sri Lanka for a much-awaited contest.

This series marks India’s first international assignment since their historic ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 triumph on November 2 in Navi Mumbai. Once the T20I series concludes, India’s top players will gear up for the 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), scheduled from January 9 to February 5 in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.

The WPL will provide valuable match time and help the squad maintain momentum ahead of a crucial year. The home series against Sri Lanka, combined with the high-intensity WPL season, serves as vital preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The tournament will be held in England from June 15 to July 6 across seven venues, featuring 12 teams in its 10th edition. With the confidence of winning their maiden ODI World Cup title earlier this month, India will be eager to build on that success and chase their first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup crown next year.
