Indian Cricketers Wishes Sunil Gavaskar On His 71st Birthday

The legendary Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar is celebrating his 71st birthday on Friday and wishes poured in for the batting legend. BCCI and ICC’s official Twitter handle came cup with heartwarming birthday greetings for Sunil Gavaskar, paying tribute to the first batsman to reach 10,000 Test runs.

Wishing the legend on his birthday, BCCI wrote: “World Cup winner, first batsman to score 10,000 Test runs, Most numbers of runs in debut Test series. Happy Birthday to the former team India captain and batting legend, Sunil Gavaskar.” Sunil Gavaskar, who has held multiple batting records, is rated as one of the most complete batsmen ever played teh game of cricket.ย 

On Friday morning, ICC tweeted: “First Batsman to score 10,000 Test runs, First batsman to score centuries in both innings of a Test thrice, Held the record for most number of Test tons until 2005, First India fielder to claim 100 catches. Happy birthday to legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar”.

Former Indian cricket, Mohammad Kaif also took Twitter to wish the batting legend on his birthday as he wrote, “Happy Birthday Sunny bhai. Grew up listening about his legendary tales of batting without a helmet. Now fortunate enough to know him & hear those stories from the man himself. The man is always at home in West Indies”.

Apart from him Suresh Raina also wished for Gavaskar’s health on his birthday, he tweeted: “Happy Birthday to the Legend! Master of Indian Cricket ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ. From being the first person to score centuries and achieving many milestones. You will always be loved by all the Cricket fans๐Ÿ Wish you great health and prosperity๐Ÿ™”.

The legendary batsman made his international debut for Indian during a Test series in 1971 against the West Indies. Since then, he played as many as 125 Tests for in his illustrious career and amassed as many as a0,122 runs at an average of 51.12 with the help of 34 Test centuries as well.

In ODIs, Sunil Gavaskar played 108 matches and scored 3,092 runs at an average of 35.13. He was also part of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team. The batting legend had also received the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan award for his contribution to Indian cricket.
