Fans on X expressed their disappointment as India faced early setbacks in their ICC World Cup 2023 game against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. India, chasing a target of 200, lost their top-order batsmen Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer without them contributing any runs.
Australia’s Mitchell Starc made the initial breakthrough by dismissing Ishan Kishan with a beautifully delivered wide ball that swung away and found the edge, caught by Cameron Green in the slips. Shortly after, Josh Hazlewood trapped Indian captain Rohit Sharma leg-before-wicket (lbw) with a sharp delivery that cut in after pitching. Sharma was dismissed for a duck.
The Indian team’s woes continued as Josh Hazlewood struck again, removing Shreyas Iyer, who attempted a wide delivery and hit it straight to David Warner at covers, also scoring zero runs. With three top-order batsmen gone for ducks, India found themselves in a precarious position at 2/3.

The responsibility to steer India toward victory now rests on the shoulders of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and other remaining batsmen. Fans are hopeful that these players can recover from the early setbacks and help India chase down the target. However, the early dismissals left supporters disappointed and concerned about India’s prospects in the match.
Here are the videos of the dismissals of Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer:

Sometimes, you can play dull quiet cricket when the target is low.

Haven’t seen Virat use the Bat-tap as the trigger for a while. Not even as recent as the 3rd ODI vs Aus- getting hyped for the occasion? or is it even nerves seeing the scorecard? #INDvsAUS

It’s not really a #WorldCup without India’s top order collapsing at least once, is it? 🤔#INDvsAUS https://t.co/Tez0VM6zFw
