Indian Players And Australian Players Met With The Australian PM On New Year Eve

On the New Year’s Day, the Indian cricket team and Australian cricket team had a fine time together with the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison at the Kirribilli House in Sydney – his official residence.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli led the Indian side while the Australian Test captain Tim Paine led the home side. Along with the players, the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri was also present in that meeting. The Australian Prime Minister had the small photo session with both the teams in together.

Among the present Test squad of the Indian cricket team, only Rohit Sharma was absent, who recently left Australia to Mumbai to be with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and newborn baby girl. He will miss the upcoming Sydney Test that will begin on 3 January.

Among the Indian side, only Rishabh Pant, Umesh Yadav and Hardik Pandya wore the Team India blue blazers while other Indians, including the head coach, wore the grey blazers. The head coach Ravi Shastri also had a hat on his head. In the meantime, the Australian side wore the Team Australia t-shirts.

Currently, the Australian cricket team is playing the four-match home Test series against the visiting side Indian cricket team. The visitors are leading the Test series by 2-1 with one Test to go that will begin on this Thursday (3 January 2019) at Sydney Cricket Ground (Sydney).

India won the first Test of the series at Adelaide by 31 runs. Then, Australia levelled the series after winning the second Test at the new Perth Stadium (Optus Stadium) by 146 runs. However, India has regained the series leading by winning the third Test of the series at Melbourne by 137 runs. Now, India can’t lose the series but they have a great opportunity to win their first ever Test series on the Australian soil.

Prior to the Test series, India played a three-match T20I series on this tour that ended with the 1-1 scoreline. After completion of the Test series, India will finish the tour with the three-match ODI series.
