Team India is having an unassailable 2-1 lead in the four-match series as they won the first Test in Adelaide and the third Test in Melbourne. They had lost the second match in Perth. Fans could be seen pursuing Kohli for selfies and autographs and he made sure that he could accommodate requests made by young children.

Australia is missing the banned stars Steve Smith and David Warner but the turnaround for India in an overseas Test series cannot be brushed away because of the Aussies’ weakness. In Australia, Team India has witnessed a huge turnaround from their batsmen.

In 2018, it was Virat Kohli who waged lone battles in South Africa and England. In Australia, though, he has got sufficient support from Pujara, who has scored 328 runs including two centuries from three Tests. Virat is second in the list behind Pujara with 259 runs including one hundred and one fifty. Incidentally, both of them have top scored with identical scores of 123.

Speaking to the media on the eve of the final Test, Kohli said his aim was to begin the New Year as well as he ended 2018. He said the victory in Melbourne has given his team firm believe.

The Indian skipper elaborated, “I think wins like MCG and Adelaide only make you feel like a team you are heading in the right direction. You will obviously make mistakes and you will have things to improve on, correct, but you can’t change your personality or character as a team. And when that comes through you understand that against all odds, you have stuck together as a side and eventually you start getting the results, and you start believing in yourself. So yeah it just gives us more confidence to do these things more often and not stop here.”
