India would be playing a series of ODIs and T20 against Sri Lanka after the third and final Test is over. Indian cricket team will play five ODIs and one T20I starting August 20 in Dambulla.

Yuvraj Singh, Mohammed Shami, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav have not been picked for the upcoming ODI series and T20I against Sri Lanka. Manish Pandey, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel and KL Rahul have been named in the 15-man squad.

It was a shock for many as Yuvraj Singh was neglected by Indian Selectors. India’s one of the finest limited overs players haven’t done much in his last few ODI matches only scoring 162.

“His batting has lost sting. He rarely bowls and his fielding has gone down a few notches. If we have to prepare a team for 2019 World Cup, we had to take a call now. In the case of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, we still don’t have a replacement but Yuvraj’s place has multiple contenders,” the official told PTI.

Rishabh Pant too fails to find a place in the team. Manish Pandey also replaces Dinesh Karthik. Ashwin, Jadeja, and Shami are rested and MS Dhoni gets his way back.
