Heavy rains in Ranchi led to Team India to cancel their practice session on Thursday evening ahead of the first T20I against Australia. The men in blue were scheduled for a training session at the JSCA International Stadium Complex but the rain gods had different plans for them.

Earlier, the hosts had sealed the ODI series by 4-1 and reached the No.1 spot in the ICC rankings in the 50-over format. The rain forced the Indian players to stay put in their hotel rooms.

However, Australian team did their training in the afternoon and went through their paces without being hampered by rain. The visitors will be eyeing to save their pride after losing the ODI series and would love to defeat the ruthless Virat Kohli and his men in the shortest format of the game.

Despite the heavy rainstorm, the official of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) assured that match will not get washed out. He said, “Such passing showers are normal this time. But the good thing is rain comes and goes and is not prolonged this time of the year. We have adequate measures to prepare the ground for the match.”
