There have been a plethora of instances where choosing to be a cricketer has turned out to be a life-changing decision for many players. There are few instances where the cricketers went from rags to riches after witnessed an eccentric growth in their career. Whereas on the other hand, sadly, there are few players too whose life turned upside down. They went down from riches to rags following the downturn. Naresh Tumda, a player who used to play Blind cricket for India ha found himself sadly in the second category.
He was part of the Blind World Cup Winning squad that lifted the trophy in 2018. The lockdown faced by the entire world due to Covid 19 made the situation even worse for him.

The player was forced to sell vegetables and work as a laborer in Gujarat’s Navsari area. Naresh had stated, “I earn Rs 250 a day by doing labor work. I have requested the chief minister thrice for a job but didn’t get a reply. I urge the government to give me a job so that I can take care of my family.”
The Blind cricket also stated that when they arrived in India after winning the world, he met various higher authority people and even President Ram Nath Kovind. He thought that he would be able to get the job quickly after winning the prestigious trophy. However, that didn’t happen as he had expected.

India and Pakistan were the two teams that locked horns with each other in the finals during the 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup. The Indian side chased down the target of 309 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 38.2 overs itself. The Indian team managed to win the match with only a few balls left. Following no options left, the cricketer has now even asked the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide him with the job for his livelihood.
