India and Sri Lanka are locking horns in a 3-match Test series with the second being been played at Nagpur and the last Test to be played at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.

BCCI selectors got together to choose the squads for the final Test at Delhi and the upcoming 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against Sri Lanka. It has been a knowledge that Indian skipper Virat Kohli has asked for a rest in order to prepare for the upcoming South Africa series in 2018.

In Kohli’s absence, Rohit Sharma will be leading India in the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. Not many surprises apart from that are to be expected and players from previous ODI and T20I series against New Zealand have been retained.

Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer and Mohd Siraj are retained into the squad along with limited overs specialist Jasprit Bumrah. Hardik Pandya will also be considered to make a return to the ODI and T20I teams.

There are chances of some new faces to be brought in the team to give the regular bowlers also some break. Delhi’s Navdeep Saini and Mumbai’s Shardul Thakur can be brought in to support the spin trio of Kuldeep, Chahal, and Axar.

As for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka, if Kohli doesn’t play in the match, according to sources, Ajinkya Rahane will lead Team India in his place.
