India’s women cricket team has been gifted a spot in the finals of the T20 World Cup as rains play spoilsport, not allowing a single ball to be bowled at the SCG for the first semi-final against India and England. Both the semi-finals are scheduled to be played on the same venue on the same day, one after the other.
Rather than adhering to the appeal of having a reserve day and rescheduling the matches on the reserve days from the CA authorities, ICC decided to go ahead with the old plan resulting in a washout semi-final. The second semifinal may also suffer from a similar fate as the chances of rains at SCG today are quite high, upto 50-70%

While some Indians fans have expressed their joy in seeing the Indian team enter the first women’s T20 World Cup final, many fans are agitated with the poor scheduling. Most of the cricket fans have expressed their sympathy for the English women team who got knocked out without getting a chance to showcase their skills against India in the semi-final.
As an Indian fan, this would make you happy.
But as a cricket fan, you would be disheartened. The semi-final match between Ind vs Eng is officially abandoned!#INDvENG #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/QkyVmC0pyR

Absolutely heartbroken for the England Cricket girls. Knocked out of the T20 World Cup because of the weather.

The International Cricket Council has fallen under criticism for not following Cricket Australia’s advice as we may now have both the semi-finals getting called off due to thunderstorms. The final will be played on 8th March at the Melbourne Cricket Ground which coincidently also happens to be International Women’s Day.
