India’s cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar recently had an inspiring and educational experience at the Western Naval Command headquarters, where he explored two remarkable vessels of the Indian Navy – the stealth-guided missile destroyer INS Mormugao and the attack submarine INS Vagir.
Sachin Tendulkar, known as the “Master Blaster,” expressed his immense gratitude and pride in witnessing the courage and commitment of the naval personnel who safeguard India’s maritime borders.

His words reflected his admiration for the navy’s relentless service to the nation. Upon his arrival, Sachin Tendulkar was warmly welcomed by naval officers and felicitated with a prestigious “BRAHMOS” badge, symbolizing his connection with the armed forces.

The former cricketer, who holds an honorary rank as a Group Captain in the Indian Air Force since 2010, is among the few sports personalities to be granted such a distinguished title.
On Navy Day, celebrated on December 4, Tendulkar posted a heartfelt message: “My heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Navy for your service to the nation. I will always cherish this day. Jai Hind.” His honorary rank and admiration for the armed forces underline his dedication to promoting national pride.
