Sapna Gill along with 7 other people was booked by the Oshiwara Police in Mumbai after a complaint was filed by Prithvi Shaw’s friend Ashish Surendra Yadav. In the official complaint, Ashish said the group of people attacked his car with baseball bats and then followed the car to threaten with false cases if a sum of INR 50,000 was not given to them.

Notably, Sapna not only denied all the accusations but said that Prithvi Shaw tried to physically assault her and her friends and was carrying a stick on the road in the city.

Prithvi Shaw had visited a five-star hotel in Santacruz for dinner when a person accused came there and insisted on a selfie. Shaw obliged two people with selfies, but the same group returned and asked for selfies with the other accused. Shaw refused this time saying he has come to eat food with friends and doesn’t want to be disturbed. When they insisted, Prithvi’s friend called the manager of the hotel and complained about them, according to the complaint.

The hotel manager asked the accused to leave the venue. This incident angered them and when Prithvi Shaw and his friend came out of the hotel after finishing their dinner, some people were standing outside the hotel with baseball bats. Prithvi’s friend’s car, a BMW, was vandalized as the accused smashed it with baseball bats to smash the front and rear windows of the vehicle.

Prithvi Shaw has been on a break from competitive cricket after India’s home series against New Zealand. Shaw was recalled to the T20i team for a 3-match series against the BlackCaps at home in January. However, the Mumbai opener did not get an opportunity in the playing XI.
