Inzamam Ul Haq Feels MS Dhoni Should’ve Retired On The Field

Former Pakistan captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq reckons that former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni deserved retirement from the ground. His remarks came after Dhoni decided to hang his boots from international cricket, calling time on his over 15-year-long career through an Instagram post on Saturday.

Talking about Dhoni on his Youtube channel, Inzamam said, “In my opinion, a player of such stature, shouldn’t have taken retirement while sitting at home. He should have announced retirement from the ground. When you have such big fan following, you should ideally send your journey from the ground, after all, it is this ground where you earned such respect and stardom. I rate him as the best Indian skipper.”

Inzamam also labeled Dhoni as the best Indian captain and credited him for nourishing match-winners like Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Former Pakistan captain said, “MS Dhoni is such a clever cricketer that he knew how to build players. Suresh Raina and R Ashwin are two best players, MS Dhoni produced. His level of understanding of the sport was so good that he used to pick players and then turn them into great players. He is not the kind who will score a century in every match, but he built his innings in such a manner that the team finishes on the winning side.”

 

On Saturday, MS decided to announce his retirement from international cricket on Instagram. The wicket-keeper-batsman Dhoni shared a video and captioned the post, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.”

The video had the iconic song ”Mai Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hu” from Amitabh Bachchan’s ”Kabhie Kabhie” playing in the background and in it, Former Indian skipper went on to share his incredible journey for India including his run out in the last game against New Zealand in the World Cup 2019 semi-final.

In December 2014, he announced his retirement from Tests and gave a chance to the likes of Wriddhiman Saha. He will now be expected to make a comeback on the cricket field for the IPL 2020 which scheduled to be played However, the tournament will now be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10.
