Former Pakistan cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq made a scathing remark regarding the Indian pacers, accusing them of manipulating the ball to achieve reverse swing in the latter stages of the innings under the scorching sunlight. He suggested that the ball had been tampered with to favour the Indian bowlers.
When asked to comment on these allegations, Indian captain Rohit Sharma dismissed them as baseless, asserting that reverse swing occurs for all teams under similar conditions. The Indian pacers have been formidable in their recent matches, particularly during the games in New York. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya showcased their prowess by dismantling the Pakistan batting lineup in a low-scoring encounter.
Despite Rohit Sharma’s rebuttal, Inzamam continued to criticize, advising the Indian captain not to lecture Pakistan on the mechanics of reverse swing. It’s noteworthy that Indian bowlers have often employed the short ball strategy more effectively than relying on the ball’s movement.

In response to Inzamam’s comments, Rohit Sharma explained, “What should I say now about this? You are playing in such hot sun, the wicket is so dry, the ball reverses automatically. It’s happening for all the teams, not only ours. All the teams are reverse-swinging. Sometimes, it’s important to open your mind.” This statement was made during a pre-match press conference ahead of the semifinal.

Inzamamul ul Haq , speaking to 24 News, reacted strongly, “The first thing is he (Rohit Sharma) mentioned that reverse swing is happening, just like we said earlier. Secondly, Rohit Sharma doesn’t need to explain to us how reverse swing occurs, in what intensity of sunlight it happens, or on which pitch it occurs. Those who teach you these kinds of things don’t need to be told these things. We should tell him that such conversations are not appropriate.”
Turning to the Indian team’s achievements, they have reached the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 and are set to face South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29.

Both teams have remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, making this final a historic event. India has not won an ICC trophy since 2013, while South Africa’s last triumph came in 1998. This final will ensure that, for the first time in T20 World Cup history, an unbeaten team will lift the trophy, marking a significant milestone for either side.
