During the 41st match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Chris Lynn had to walk back to the pavilion after he was involved in a terrible mix-up with Robin Uthappa.
After Dinesh Karthik won the toss and put the visitors in to bat, Mumbai Indians scored 210-6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Mumbai Indians posted the highest-ever IPL score at Kolkata, which depicts that what they achieved wasn’t easy.
Lynn had come in to open the batting alongside Sunil Narine. It was a night where he looked set to play substantial innings had he not been dismissed via a run-out.
On the final delivery of the fourth over, Uthappa punched a ball to Suryakumar Yadav at extra cover. It was at this point in time that Uthappa initially called for a single but then refused it. By this point, Lynn had left his crease and Suryakumar Yadav had already thrown the ball at the non-striker’s end. Lynn handed up scoring 21 (15) with the help of three fours and a six.
