During the 40th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Jaipur, Kings XI Punjab’s Andrew Tye picked up three wickets in his final over to register a commendable performance.

After Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat, Rajasthan Royals’ innings progressed on Jos Buttler’s fourth IPL half-century, the third consecutive of this season. Sans him, Royals wouldn’t have scored as much as they did eventually.

Andrew Tye was introduced into the bowling attack as the second change bowler in the fourth over. Sticking by his knack of picking up wickets, Tye dismissed the opposition captain in Rahane (9) in his first over.

On the first delivery of his last over, he dismissed Ben Stokes (14) after he mis-timed a ball to Ravichandran Ashwin at extra cover. On the third delivery of the same over, Jofra Archer (0) hit a Tye delivery high into the air only to be caught by Manoj Tiwary at long off. The last ball of the innings saw Jaydev Unadkat (0) hitting a simple catch to Karun Nair at long on.

Tye ended up with bowling figures of 4-0-34-4. With 16 wickets in the tournament, he has now also got hold of the Purple Cap. In an interview post the innings, a teary-Tye revealed that he had lost his grandmother in the morning and that he would want to dedicate this performance to her. Watch the full video:
