During the 25th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab’s Ankit Rajpoot picked up his second T20 five-wicket haul and first IPL five-wicket haul as the home team was restricted to 132-6 in 20 overs.

After Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and chose to field, Rajpoot created mayhem amongst Hyderabad’s batting order, picking up three wickets in the powerplay. He drew first blood on the fourth delivery of his first over after Kane Williamson (0) failed to cope up with the extra bounce and lobbed a simple catch to Ashwin at mid off.

Rajpoot bagged a maiden IPL five-wicket haul.

On the second delivery of the third over, Rajpoot induced an outside edge of Shikhar Dhawan’s (11) bat which was caught by Karun Nair at first slip. Rajpoot continued the trend by dismissing Wriddhiman Saha (6), who attempted a unsuccessful slog in a bid to up the ante.

After bowling his first three overs in the powerplay, Rajpoot was called up to bowl in the last over of the innings. A yorker saw the end of Manish Pandey (54), which was followed by Mohammad Nabi (4) on the last ball of the innings. Rajpoot finished with bowling figures of 4-0-14-5. He became the first uncapped Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul in the IPL.
