During the 40th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Jaipur, Kings XI Punjab’s Axar Patel was found short of the crease against Stuart Binny’s pinpoint throw.
After Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat, Rajasthan Royals’ innings progressed on Jos Buttler’s fourth IPL half-century, the third consecutive of this season. Sans him, Royals wouldn’t have scored as much as they did eventually.
In the second innings, Kings XI Punjab got off to a poor start, losing not just Chris Gayle but a flurry of wickets at the start. Their poor start did not let them get back into the match to the extent that even a 159-run chase seemed a daunting task.
On the third delivery of the 14th over, Patel played an Anureet Singh to long on. In a bid to score quick runs, Patel went back for the second run. However, an accurate throw from Binny and a clean collect from the wicket-keeper Jos Buttler had put curtains to Patel’s innings. Patel ended up scoring 9 (5) with the help of one four.
