During the 15th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals’ Ben Stokes jumped to grab an awe-inspiring catch on the boundary to dismiss Robin Uthappa off K Gowtham.
After being put in to bat by Dinesh Karthik, Rajasthan Royals scored 160-8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Their innings never really got going as they lost wickets at regular intervals and became a victim of slow run rate.
In reply, the Knight Riders did not get off to the best of starts either, losing their opener Chris Lynn (0) in the first over itself. Had Sunil Narine (35) not played an innings of consequence, their chances might have become bleak in the chase.
What came as a reprieve for the Royals was the wicket of Uthappa. On the third delivery of the 13th over, Uthappa stepped out of his crease to hit the ball over the long on fielder. To his surprise, a leaping Stokes had come in the way of the ball, taking a superb catch to put a halt to his innings. Uthappa ended up scoring 48 (36) with the help of six fours and two sixes.
