During the 31st match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Brendon McCullum scored consecutive sixes in an unusual manner.
Earlier, Sharma had won the toss and chose to field. Kieron Pollard, who was left out from the playing eleven in the last match, was included in place of injured Evin Lewis. For the Royal Challengers, Washington Sundar came back into the playing eleven in place of Murugan Ashwin.
It happened in the 10th over of Bangalore’s innings when Rohit Sharma introduced Hardik Pandya into the attack in place of his elder brother, Krunal Pandya, who had just bowled two economical overs. On the second ball of the over, McCullum danced down the track to a chest-height full-toss from Hardik Pandya. The ball flew off his top-edge to the boundary behind the wickets.
As a result of the no-ball, McCullum got a reprieve in the form of a free-hit. Hardik Pandya bowled a full-toss to which McCullum played a scoop behind the wickets for another six. On the fourth ball of the over, McCullum hit a hard-hitting shot through the extra cover region which crossed the boundary. Watch the full video:
