During the 16th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Mohali, Universe Boss Chris Gayle started the innings on a positive note for his team. Opening the batting with Lokesh Rahul, both the batsmen remained unbeaten throughout the powerplay.

Ravichandran Ashwin, captain of Kings XI Punjab, had won the toss and chose to bat. Seldom has any captain taken the decision of winning the toss and choosing to bat in this season of the IPL. Punjab has played an unchanged playing eleven. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad brought Chris Jordan in place of Billy Stanlake.

Gayle hit two sixes off Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan, who was brought into the attack as the first change bowler in the fifth over, went against his reputation as he conceded 13 runs off his first over. After Wriddhiman Saha dropped Gayle on the first ball of the over, Gayle hit Rashid Khan for two sixes in the over.

On the following delivery, Rashid Khan bowled a juicy full-toss which Gayle dispatched over the deep midwicket boundary. On the penultimate delivery of the over, Gayle repeated the outcome with a six between midwicket and long on. Watch the full video:
