During the 18th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab at Kolkata, Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa scored 23 runs off a Barinder Sran over as the Knight Riders moved towards a total of significance.
Ravichandran Ashwin, captain of Kings XI Punjab, had won the toss and chose to field. Punjab had included Ankit Rajpoot in the playing eleven in place of Mohit Sharma. On the other hand, the Knight Riders had fielded an unchanged playing eleven.
Despite losing Sunil Narine (1) in the second over, the Knight Riders managed to score 50-1 in the powerplay. It became possible due to the partnership of Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa. The duo went hard against Sran in the eighth over of the innings.
Bowling his second over, Sran was welcomed by a pull which went over backward square leg for a six. Lynn was on strike on the third ball of the over, hitting it for a four through the cover point area. Lynn followed it with a monumental six over deep midwicket, a shot which covered a distance of 97 metre.
On the final delivery of the over, Lynn picked up Sran’s slower delivery fairly quickly and dispatched it over square leg for another six. Sran’s over was the most expensive over for Punjab in this season.
