South African fast bowler, Lungi Ngidi, who is playing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 11th edition of the tournament, has reportedly returned to the squad ahead of CSK’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, which they lost by 8 wickets. The cricketer had gone back home to South Africa after receiving the tragic news of his father Jerome Ngidi’s demise earlier this month.
CSK team members and fans must be relieved to see the 22-year-old pacer back in the squad after spending time with his family during the tough phase. It is not yet known whether Lungi Ngidi will be part of the playing XI in the later matches. Lungi, who was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a base price of INR 50 lakh during the IPL 2018 auction, is yet to make his debut in the cash-rich league.

Earlier, Ngidi had alleged that he was subjected to ‘strip search’ at an airport on his way home from India after his father’s death. It was not revealed which airport Lungi departed from. Several media reports and a tweet from Lungi Ngidi’s Twitter handle (unverified) suggested that the cricketer was ‘strip searched’ at an airport.
Just to top off my day…..a "random" strip search at the airport…..
