During the 32nd match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Delhi, Rajasthan Royals’ D’Arcy Short opened up against his senior Australian teammate Glenn Maxwell as he hit him for three consecutive sixes.
After Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and put the Daredevils in to bat, the home team scored 196-6 in 17.1 overs before rain disturbed their first innings to the extent that it had to be brought to a halt with five deliveries yet to be bowled. The revised target for the Royals was 151 runs from 12 overs.
In which was Maxwell’s first over, the 10th of the innings, he conceded 21 runs and picked up a wicket as well. On the first ball of the over, Maxwell’s tad short delivery was hit by Short over the deep midwicket fielder for a six. The following delivery was a fuller one which was hit by Short through the long on region for another six.
Maxwell bowled another full delivery outside the off stump, to which Short opened his front leg to hit the ball for a towering six over the long off fielder. Maxwell persisted with his line as this time round Short’s drive carried to Avesh Khan at short third-man. He ended up scoring 44 (25) with the help of two fours and four sixes.
