Royal Challengers Bangalore kept their chances of qualifying for the playoffs alive by the thread as they completed a clinical win against Delhi Daredevils. Riding on Virat Kohli’s 70(40) and AB De Villiers 72*(37), Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to win the match by 5 wickets at the Feroz Shah Kota Stadium, Delhi. The home team had two debutant bowlers but they failed to contain RCB legends.

The start by Delhi Daredevils was also made by a leg-spinner. Sandip Lamicchane who became the first player from Nepal to play in the IPL was impressive on his debut. He defeated the openers, Parthiv Patel and Jason Roy, and eventually managed to sneak the wicket of Parthiv Patel also.

After three overs, RCB found themselves at 18/2 and the chase of 182 was in front of them. Owning up to the responsibility, Virat Kohli stepped up on the night and the best batsman in the world showed once again what he is capable of.

In the next over bowled by the debutant Junior Dala, Kohli took on the bowler. After the dot ball on the first ball, Virat first scored a boundary over deep midwicket, then he pulled a length ball with his wrists for a six. Improving further on the effort, Kohli backed away and scored a boundary off Dala on the fifth ball as well.

The over changed the complexion of the match and now RCB stepped up in the favorites position. From there two of the greatest batsman stitched a partnership of 118 runs. Kohli’s contribution in that was 63 from 35 balls. ABD stayed till the end and ended the match with a six.

Royal Challengers Bangalore now have four wins from their 11 matches and are one step ahead of the bottom team Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will play their next match on Monday (15th May) against KXIP at Indore.
