The only team that has never made it to the IPL Final. Under the leadership of their own star player Gautam Gambhir, Delhi Daredevils (DD) will be hoping to change the first statement this year. DD owners did well at the IPL 2018 Auction and picked up a good team. They especially made it sure to have a back-up for every player and following that process, they have given themselves a wonderful chance to clinch the glory.  The capital is one of the top contenders this season.

Indian contingent:

Return of Gautam Gambhir ticks two boxes for Delhi Daredevils. One as a strong opening batsman and other as a gutsy leader. DD values Gambhir’s captaincy heavily and will look forward to him to lead the team towards the championship as he did with KKR.

Daredevils have packed the side with Indian spinners. They have the best spinner in Amit Mishra. Run-miser Shahbaz Nadeem will accompany him. They have options in Jayant Yadav and Rahul Tewatia. Fast bowler Mohammad Shami and all-rounder Vijay Shankar will be an integral part of the team.

Foreign contingent:

Chris Morris is immensely valuable, especially in T20s. He will give you four overs bowling every time with his explosive batting at the death. Kagiso Rabada is at the top of his skills and will be a lethal bowling option. Colin Munro has scored three T20I centuries in the season, he’s a great option at the opening slot. DD also have Glenn Maxwell and Trent Boult to add experience to the team.

Player availability:

Glenn Maxwell will miss out on the earlier matches due to national commitments. Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult may also not take part in the opening encounter with their Test matches being played. All others are fit and fine for the Daredevils team.

Variations: 

Delhi Daredevils have a strong base this year and have lots of backup players. They can open with Jason Roy or Prithvi Shaw if needed. They can fit in Dan Christian in the XI if they need an allrounder. In bowling, they may opt to play with both Rabada and Boult on seaming tracks. They have lots of variety to play within spinners like Rahul Tewatia, Sandip Lamicchane, Jayant Yadav etc.
