During the second Qualifier of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Dinesh Karthik called for a catch only to drop it eventually.

Earlier Karthik, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, had won the toss and chose to field. Kolkata Knight Riders made a solitary change to their playing eleven, bringing in Shivam Mavi in place of Javon Searles. The change means that they are playing with only three overseas players. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad made three changes to their playing eleven. Wriddhiman Saha, Deepak Hooda and Khaleel Ahmed were included in the squad in place of Sreevats Goswami, Manish Pandey and Sandeep Sharma.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had sent in Shikhar Dhawan and Saha to open the innings. Mavi took the new ball for the Knight Riders.

In Mavi’s second over, the third of the innings, Saha skied a delivery high into the air. Having called for the catch, Karthik ran from the wicket-keeper’s position to square-leg. He eventually dived to grab the catch but could only manage to lay his fingertips on the swirling ball.
