During the 49th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Kolkata, Dinesh Karthik, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, went with his instinct to opt for a successful review against Sanju Samson.

Earlier Dinesh Karthik, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, had won the toss and chose to field. Kolkata Knight Riders brought in Mavi in place of Piyush Chawla. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals made three changes to their playing eleven, bringing in Rahul Tripathi, Anureet Singh and Ish Sodhi in place of D’Arcy Short, Shreyas Gopal and Dhawal Kulkarni.

After an initial glut of runs in the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals seemed to run away with their innings. Having said that, once wickets started to fall, their run rate dropped down drastically to the likes of the fans of the home team.

What further hurt the Royals was the wicket of Samson in the 11th over. It happened on the third delivery of the over when Sunil Narine beat Samson as the ball hit his back leg. After umpire Anil Chaudhary ruled the decision in the favour of the batsman, the bowler seemed to be disinterested. That said, it was at this point in time that Karthik called for the review.

Upon replays, it was clear that the ball would have gone on to hit the stumps. Watch the full video:
